Chicot Rd: 25 dogs
+ 10 puppies Start
Date: October 2010 Rescue
Coordinator:
Again
we have learned of a situation where our help is desperately needed. Christina, a lady whom OOTW has recently helped, gave
a ride to a man who was walking along Chicot road. She discovered that Roger and his wife had accumulated 25 dogs, most of
which were dumped or abandoned, and now have ten puppies from several different litters that have been born at their modest
rent house. She also discovered that the couple's only vehicle was broken down and that they couldn't afford to get it repaired.
Roger is walking to the grocery store, 1.6 miles each way, every day to get meat scraps to feed their many dogs.
Roger
receives a disability check because of medical problems which is the only source of income for this couple.
He chops wood and has a sign up reading "will trade firewood for dog food". There is also a sign on one of
the trees, "DOGS INN, no vacancy". It is a tragic situation and one we feel
compelled to help. This is yet another dumping ground
for irresponsible people who no longer want their dog. Situations like this abound
in Arkansas and has left his impoverished family to struggle to provide the basics for these dogs that have
been abandoned. These people are not hoarders or a puppy mill. They are just trying to deal with what has happened
to them in the only way that they know how.
|
We immediately
transported three female dogs to Pinnacle Valley Animal Hospital to be spayed. One was believed to have been snake bit in
the eye and had a massive infection. The eye had to be removed, but she is feeling a lot better now! Several trips have been made to assess and begin the process of providing the basics
for these dogs. OOTW has supplied dog food, flea and heartworm prevention and begun vaccinations on most of the dogs. OOTW
will ensure that ALL 25 dogs and 10 puppies will be spayed or neutered .
|
This is a very costly endeavor and OOTW has once again extended a promise
of help to these folks which will exceed OOTW's financial ability. OOTW relies totally on the generosity of its supporters
and no doubt, this must happen to avoid further reproduction, suffering and starvation for these dogs. OOTW will place some
of these dogs in adoptive homes, mostly the pups and perhaps a few of the young adults. YOU can make the difference not only for the dogs
in this situation, but the people, too. They have seen that their dogs are fed as a priority over their own needs. They are
not able to afford the basics of flea or heartworm prevention, and no doubt, these dogs will suffer if these basic needs are
not met.

WHAT
YOU CAN DO TO HELP: Make
a donation to assist with the Chicot Road Project. Sponsor a spay or neuter at $50.00 each or pay for a dog to be fully vetted at $110.00
each. Provide
a foster home for any of these dogs or pups. Buy dog food or flea prevention specifically for these dogs. Offer mechanic services or make a donation
to repair Roger and Trina's only vehicle. Donate groceries to this couple or help them get signed up to a food bank, with
someone who can deliver, so that they can use their limited funds to provide for their dogs. They are
standing by to hear from you. THEY
need YOU! Please help OOTW help them..... Thanks so much for the difference you have made for those in need, and your continued support of
OOTW efforts to truly make this a better world for all animals.
