Fostering
"God
doesn't expect you to save them all --- just those you can."
Can YOU be a bridge between
what is and what can be? Why
Become a Foster Home?
I am the bridge between what
was And what can be. I am the pathway to
a new life. I am made of mush, Because my heart melted when I saw you, Matted,
sore, limping, depressed, lonely, Unwanted and afraid to love. For one little time you are mine. I will feed
you with my own hand, I will love you with my whole heart. I will make you whole. I am made of steel, Because when the time comes, When
you are well and sleek, When your eyes shine, And you tail wags with joy, Then
comes the hard part. I will let you go, Not without a tear, but without regret. For you are safe forever. A new dog needs me now. This lovely poem
was written by Foster Mom, Diane Morgan and truly says it all!
If you want to help save the lives of pets, becoming a foster home is just one way to help. Offering a dog or cat a temporary home until their forever home is found can be a very rewarding
experience. Nothing compares to watching a pet grow in mind, body and spirit, and the wonderful personal fulfillment of knowing
you played an instrumental role in helping a pet transition from a life of uncertainty or abuse to a forever home can last
forever. We at OOTW can only accept as many pets as we have a foster
homes available and sometimes we have to leave the pet to an uncertain fate. Won't you Please consider becoming a foster home
for OOTW, fostering will give you great satisfaction of knowing you have helped save a life and we
can't do it without you.
Save a life today!
Sometimes just a few extra days can mean the difference
between life and death for a dog or a cat on "death row" at animal shelters or on the streets. Our ability to help
these animals is limited to the availability of foster homes. If you love animals, please consider opening your heart and
home to one that might otherwise die.
The OOTW Foster Care Program is
an ever-so-important aspect of our organization but we simply cannot do it without the selfless sacrifice of foster homes/families.
We do the very best we can in rescuing as many pets as possible but because we do not have an animal shelter or facility,
it is essential that we have approved, loving homes that will care for the many animals in need that we assist each year.
Would you like to help an animal in need by becoming a foster care provider? It's simple. Just fill out the online
application, and then click "submit". Once received, we will contact you to discuss your application and our foster
care program. Please note that a home visit will be required. Thank you for your dedication to see every
homeless pet find the forever home they deserve. FAQsWhat is a foster parent?A volunteer foster parent assists in the rehabilitation of a pet by
providing in-home care on a temporary basis
until a permanent adoptive home is found. Foster parents provide
a clean, safe, loving environment for the pets in their homes. How
long is the foster care commitment? The length of foster care for
each animal varies depending on its needs. Fostering may last from two weeks to several months. What are the expenses
for a foster parent? OOTW provides
and covers the cost of all veterinarian care needed for your foster pet, as long as the pet is taken to an OOTW approved
veterinarian clinic. If you choose to use your own veterinarian, we
cannot be responsible for the expenses. OOTW furnishes some of the supplies as needed to care for foster pets. This may include food, litter, bedding, toys and other
items as needed. Foster parents are to be responsible for the safe transportation of Pet(s) as needed.
OOTW is not responsible for any damage or injury caused by a foster pet while it is in the care of
a Foster Care Volunteer. What are the requirements for
foster parents?Prospective adult foster parents must complete an application,
agree to the "Code of Conduct" and a personal interview with an OOTW Representative. Home inspections
are conducted next. Things to consider When outside, puppies and dogs must be supervised in an enclosed yard or on leash. Kittens
and cats much be kept indoors at all times. Fostering is one
of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have. With your help, we will be able
to save more lives and ensure that those rescued will have the chance to find the home of their dreams!
