Getting Help

Have you taken in a homeless dog or cat?

We at Out Of The Woods help independent rescuers who will take responsibility for the dog(s) or cat(s) that they have rescued.

We do not have a shelter or a building to house pets or any available foster homes
, but if you will act as a stand-in (temporary) home and care for the pets you have rescued until a permanent home can be found, WE CAN HELP !
Together, we will be able to save lives and help more homeless dogs and cats in need.
What you need to do for us...
  • We need three good pictures of your rescued pet, a close-up of the face, a full body shot plus one other, your choice. Having good pictures increases your chances of getting your pet adopted!
  • A short story about how you came to have or find the animal with description of their personality traits and other items of interest. It should be written the way you want it to appear on the websites. It must also include whatever contact email address and/or phone number you want to use.
  • Submit a OOTW "Getting Help" Application, read and agree to the "Terms Agreement" and the "Code of Conduct".

"Getting Help" Application & Terms Agreement

CODE OF CONDUCT

What we will do for you once your "Getting Help" application is approved...
  • We will list your rescue on multiple websites and offer assistance with screening perspective homes. We will notify you of any pet adoption events we might have.
  • Provided you use one of our clinics, you will get a discount on veterinarian services. If you pay for the veterinarian services, once your pet is adopted we will refund the adoption donation to you. If financial help is needed, we will discuss this with you and consider providing assistance on a case-by-case basis. OOTW guidelines apply whether or not you pay the vet expenses.

It takes commitment from you, but Out Of The Woods
can "help" you "help" homeless pets.

What is Pet Rescue?

The goal here is to help educate you about rescue....what it is and what it isn't.

Rescue is a service for pets. Rescue is a situation that pets who are homeless, abandoned or removed from an inhumane situation come into where they will receive the medical attention, physical attention, and behavioral attention they need.

Rescue is not a shelter. We do not have a building. We have no business hours.

Rescue is a group of people that love animals. Rescue is a group of people who already have a life, a family, a full time job, their own pets plus foster pets. We open our homes and hearts to pets, give them a place to live, and love them until they find a loving forever home. We take applications, process/screen them, and make and take pets to vet appointments and sometimes have the people come and visit with the pets in our homes. There is a volunteer's home on the end of every phone number or email you are given.

Our rescue believes that the only pet breeding that should be done is by the very few responsible breeders out there, and only to improve the breed. Breeders are folks that care about their animals and take pride in placing them in loving homes were they will be cared for. Breeding for profit is a puppymill no matter the size.

Rescues believe that all pets should be spayed and neutered, period.

Rescue should be one of your last resorts..... try obedience training, try crate training, try everything you can before you make the decision to give up your pet.
