Diesel.JPG

Diesel

Diesel has been absolutely wonderful! It's been a whole lot of fun taking him to the parks, dog runs, and all that good stuff! It has been quite an adjustment though, but all adjustments have been made and all is well. I just hope he learns how to walk up the spiral staircase, since he's been stopping towards the top, where I have to carry him the rest of the way. But he can already walk down them. (I had to cover them with carpet). Also, my wife and I definitely have to get used to the idea of the dog following us whereEVER we go (doing dishes, working, reading) and trying to play with our clothes while we are trying to put them on... though after a minute or so he kind of lies down on the floor near us, which is really nice.

It's been quite a ride, but a fun one at that, one we're excited to continue.

Shelby

I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know that Shelby is a great addition to our family! Her and Susie are getting along really well, and that it's a lot of fun to watch Shelby chase Susie all around the backyard! Shelby has made herself right at home too! It hasn't take her long at all to feel comfortable in our home. Oh, and she's found her bark...it took her a bit but she found it. I don't know if it surprised Susie or Elisa and I more when she first did it! Thankfully though she's a pretty quiet girl most of the time.

Conrad

conrad33.jpg

Conrad is doing amazing! I love the little guy so much. We just went for a long walk today and he sniffed every tree, leaf and stick around! He's still working on his potty training and is doing pretty well with it. He likes being a couch potato but he loves meeting new friends at the doggy park which we go to almost every day. I get so many compliments on him, everyone just melts when they see him and boy does he love the attention! Conrad loves when we go home to my parents house on the weekends and visit his sister Cozy. They play for hours together. Thank you so much for giving me such an amazing pup!

Myley (aka Millie with Pepper, right)

Millie (Penny Myley) is doing really well. She is playful, has a great personality and is growing like a weed.  Myley and Pepper are big buddies and they are constantly getting into something.  She is a great companion for the kids and typically sleeps in the bed with Pepper and our nine year old daughter. She demonstrates great loyalty and has a very big bark. She walks on a leash very well, if she gets excited she will tug but will heel quickly. She rough houses some but is mostly a princess. We love her and she is great with the entire family.  We are very glad that she is in our family.

Warm regards.

Freckles

On August 5th this year, I lost the last of my four dogs. Her name was Moo Moo and her death devastated me. The same night after she died I got on the internet and clicked on Perfinders just to look at pictures of dogs needing homes. On my first click I came across the website for OOTW and on the front page there was a photo of "the dog of the month" and her name was Freckles. Freckles was a twin for my Moo Moo and I began to cry again knowing that it would be possible to continue my love for Moo Moo with another dog that needed someone in its life. I contacted OOTW and I was told that she was available. Well needless to say, a few weeks later Freckles arrived in New York and into my life. She was very happy to see and meet me and so was I.  We have bonded as if she has been with me for years instead of weeks. People always talk about rescuing a dog, let me tell you that at least in my case.....that is not true. Freckles and OOTW have rescued me from the lonelinest brought on by the death of my other friends and I cannot thank all of you enough for giving me the opportunity to help Freckles live a happy, healthy and long life here in the Big Apple.

Bauer (aka Beethoven)

He is the best dog ever!! He really is our dog. He is soo funny too. He doesn't have accidents in the house because he is really good at telling us when he wants to go out. He can sit, give paw, and lay down. We don't even have to use verbal commands. He understands the doggy sign language we've been teaching him. Right now we are working on roll over. He'll get it!! He is very sociable too. He gets a lot of exercise too, so he sleeps through the night. In our bed or on his bed next to ours on the floor.

We just love Perry.  He sleeps in the bed with Nancy and Fibi and me;  and he wakes up every morning SO optimistic.  He and Fibi are best buds. They romp and stomp all over the property and LOVE to swim in the lakes.  He is a great ambassador for Pit Bulls.  EVERYBODY loves him and he adores everybody.  He's just a big bundle of love and energy.

Just a note to say thanks for bringing this amazing animal into our lives. He is a real joy. He is always optimistic and enthusiastic. He's very sensitive and thus easy to train. Thanks again for all you do.

Here is a recent photo of Scout (aka Davey Jones) and Bella his adopted Mommie. Since Scout arrived he's taken to sitting on my Samoyed, Bella and surprisingly, she let's him. Too Cute! I call my Bella, Bella-Chaise now:)

***
Scout is a dream come true, he's an angel with paws. He's so smart for being so young. Scout did not arrive through our front door, but came through our garage entrance last night. Today, he runs to our front door cries and scratches, I showed him the back door and we both went into the yard. He went potty outside with no problem. How could he possibly know to do this at his age, he's really an amazing little guy. He loves the outdoors, even the wet grass as it's been raining here. What fun he is! I gave him a basket full of his own smaller size toys, he decided he liked the larger size toys that belong to my two other angels and proceeded to take the ones he liked into a very large 50 inch dog bed, no small bed/toys for him. What a wonderful, sweet boy he is.

Thank You,
Anna M.

Bruce

Bruce is doing so well and we're having a blast. The attached video is him doing 2 new tricks he learned. Jose is really good at training him. He does shake, roll over, and heels. We're working on stay currently. He still limps a bit, but the doctor said he's ok. I take him for walks and sometimes we jog a bit and he does fine. He doesn't like the dog park yet as he's very shy around other dogs. He still has to go though! We took him camping this past weekend and he made friends with one of the other dogs around his age, Zoe. They had fun play fighting. But out of all the dogs there, Bruce had the best manners, I was so proud of him. He didn't care for the Buffalo River water though. He was so funny about it, wouldn't go near it. Anyway, thanks for helping us adopt him.

Stouffie has immediately secured a place in all of our hearts. Molly is thrilled to have a tug-of-war buddy. He is such a loved (and spoiled) pup as you will see!  He still absolutely loves the water and would swim and play in the water all the time if we let him!  We got him a little pool at Walmart...he loves it...between drinking/biting at the water and swimming/digging in the pool, he completely soaks our entire  deck! He will run and jump in/out of the pool over and over!  He also loves the hose...he insists  on drinking out of the hose as I'm watering plants or filling up the pool!  Besides water, he still  loves retrieving, so these two things combined can entertain him for quite awhile! Also he has a  new hiding spot...we recently couldn't find him one day and looked all over the house... then found  him...in my closet!  He still loves to be in and under anything he can fit under or in!  Oh, and his 'tricks' now include: 'paw' (shake), 'play dead' (lays on his side), and 'roll over'!  Just wanted to share!  We adore him and couldn't imagine life without him.  Thanks again for  taking such good care of him, we are so happy to have him in our family!

Hudson (aka Scrappy)

Mighty Little Hudson is doing great. He won't be little Hudson for long though, as he seems to be growing everyday. He is doing awesome and we couldn't be happier to have him as part of our family. He is a funny little guy, but is learning quickly and has learned to sit, laydown, stay, and shake. He is the cutest little pup and his ears now stick straight up!! We think he looks like Bolt from the Disney movie. We spent the weekend with my wife's parents, sister and brother-inlaw, kids and dogs and Hudson was great with their little girls and loved the other dogs.

Thank you again for your help in adopting him.

Things are fantastic-- she's a dream. We went home to Dallas again this weekend and she got to meet my brother's 10 month old Australian shepherd, and the meeting couldn't have gone better. I just love her and the family is already threatening to adopt her away once I start practicing law full time this winter. She is just an angel. I think she's happy-- I know she's already brought us so much joy. Thank you so, so much for taking care of her to this point...I can tell she has had a happy life that I only hope to continue.
Thank you so much for giving so many rescue dogs a chance to find homes.

Evan

We went to pick up lovely Evan this morning and fell in love at first sight. He was great on the car ride back into the city and he's already been for his first New York City walk. He caught the hang of it in no time. He's wonderful - sweet, gentle playful. Perfect in every way. We're so incredibly happy. We keep looking at one another with big, dopey grins.

Thanks for everything,

Ty is doing great!  I have always had dogs growing up but Ty is just amazing. So sweet, playful, very affectionate and he still loves having his belly rubbed.  We think he loves his sister Addie more than us but we are alright with it!  They are so cute together. We bring them out to the soccer field and they really enjoy it, they have learned the word soccer means something fun outside. If y'all ever need help with anything this far southeast just give me a call!  Thanks.

Let's just say, Remy rules my heart. He is the best little thing -- so sweet and loving and follows me around step for step. My two adult kids fight over who gets to keep him if Jerry and I go out of town. LOL. Remy rides in the car with me, sleeps in the bed with me, sits in the recliner with me, reads the paper with me and helps me clean house (except for the vacuuming part). He is just so special. We are so lucky to have found him.

Remy is doing just fine. He has made himself a home here at our house and my other Chihuahua "Pico" is being pretty tolerant. Remy is eating well. You can't see his ribs anymore. Yay! He is totally potty trained and hasn't had an accident in the house since we got him.  Anyway, I wanted to let you know that everyone (including all my granddogs) love Remy and it is pretty obvious that Remy loves all of us.

Thanks so much for allowing us to adopt Remy.

Well, it's almost been a year since we adopted Barkley! We absolutely love him... Him and Tilly get along just like brother and sister, will lay on each other to sleep and snuggle one minute and biting at each others tail the next!  He is such a protective little guy of my kids.... When the kids are gone, he spends most of his time up on the chair looking out the window waiting on them to come home! And when he sees them in the driveway, he goes to the door and is jumping and barking to greet them! It's so cute! Well, just wanted to let you know that I am glad that you chose us for his adoptive family, he has definitely brought love and laughter to our family! Oh, and he weighs about 17lbs now, he was about 12.5 when we got him! Ha! It's all dog food though, except what he sneaks from under the table when the kids drop food! Thanks again.

Kolby

kolby002.jpg
It's me, Kolby! I wanted to give you an update on this very special day, my one year anniversary with my family in NJ. I can't believe a year has gone! I was really sad when I first came, I missed my foster mom Connie and my brothers and sisters. My family here seemed to understand and gave me lots of love. I was really afraid to be alone for a long time and did like to chew things when I was nervous, but Mom showed me other ways to feel content and I'm a very good boy now (I still like a good crunchy TV control now and then). I weigh 70 pounds! You she see me play football! My kid Jim says I'm one of the best he's played with! My other kids Tori and Brooke take me to the dog park all the time and I help keep them in shape for track by taking long runs with them. I taught Brooke not to be afraid of dogs again after that mean dog attacked her and she taught me fun tricks with treats! I just love my kids! I had alot of fun swimming in the pool with everyone, but I was just as happy swimming alone!  Mom lets me chase squirrels and rabbits in the yard, but I learned after a good spraying to leave the skunks alone! Every day my family tells me I'm handsome or smart and they love me. I can't thank you enough for helping me find a family who loves me so much. We are so happy together and would never have found  each other without you. I'll keep in touch!  Love You all!

Kolby

I wanted to share this picture of Brooke and Kolby who shared a birthday today. Brooke was 12 and Kolby was 1! To say we love him is an understatement. He has brought such joy to our home and to Brooke, who was viciously attacked by a dog last year and received 75 stitches, Kolby has restored her sense of love and trust in animals. I will forever believe God sent him to all of us to help this family heal. Thank you again for what you do and for giving a beautiful soul like Kolby a chance to love and be loved in return.

Burt

Hi Kathy...it's me Burt!

It's been about a year now since I was adopted and I wanted to let you know how I was doing. Things here in Staten Island are pretty good. I have a nice house with a big yard and lots of friends. Sarah and Lucy like to play tug of war with me in the yard and every Wednesday I help mom in the yard and bark at anyone who walks by with another dog, this is my yard and they need to know it. I used to snuggle up in bed with Lucy every night but now it's a bit too warm for that so I just curl up in my kennel with my bones and toys. I've made a lot of new friends. Mr. Stripes and Toulouse were here before me but they made me feel right at home which was nice (considering they're CATS!). My newest friend is a kitten named Tiger. Mom and dad rescued him after his mommy was hit by a car just before Christmas. We raised him along with his brother and sister, they were only 3 weeks old when they came here. He likes to sleep on top of my crate and he tries to swat my tail when I wag it. My best friend is a Boxer named Willow who lives with moms parents. They have a garden center and landscaping business here and the best part is it's on 3 acres!!! At the end of the day me and Willow go running all over. We take turns chasing each other and climbing the hills...it's a lot of fun!!! The thing I like to do most though is spend time with Dad. He takes me for long walks through the neighborhood and the park and this year we're all going upstate to the family cabin. It's on top of a mountain in Binghampton N.Y. and has over 125 acres for me to play on, I can hardly wait to go! I sent a few pictures of me so you can see what a big boy I've become, Dad took me to the vet a few weeks ago and I weighed 65 pounds!
I wanted to say thanks for everything you did for me and I'll talk to you again soon.

Love,
Burt
